Set against the classically elegant backdrop of Quaglinos restaurant in Mayfair, a glamorous but relaxed supper club setting was created for the main event with 140 guests. The high ceilinged room was given a more intimate makeover using red velvet drapes, vintage stage lamps and lots of real and gold palms while a series of gold mirrored performance stages flanked with bespoke signage and gold curved dance floor reflected the impressive staircase, up-lit bar tops and glowing amber skylight above.
On arrival, guests enjoyed specially selected cocktails and canapés curated to befit the birthday boy’s tastes and were handed masks of his face to hold up at the surprise moment. The incredible Arts Club Band provided the soundtrack and as the guest of honour entered a drum roll introduced ACDC’s Thunder, ushering him down the stairs in true boxing champion style.
After saying their hellos, guests were invited to take their seats at the clusters of velvet sofas and armchairs around low tables with cabaret lamps to watch the first video of the night, starring comedy hero Chabuddy G, who also appeared afterwards as the surprise host of the night.
Three further videos were screened, each with a different theme and plenty of laughs, including a hip hop parody of Notorious BIG’s Juicy performed by close friends to end the show. Chabuddy together with his backing band sang Happy Birthday and a troupe of glamorous hostesses created a mini boxing ring for the finale presentation of a championship belt, after which Krystal Roxx took to the decks and opened the dance floor.
A secret games room was revealed at the back of the room with bespoke photo wall, vintage arcade knockout game, video blooper booth, alcoholic ice cream cart and peephole cameras showing hilarious stop motion animations.
As the evening came to a close, the last guests standing were ushered out to a line of waiting tuk tuks who transported them to an after party at The Scotch of St James just around the corner. Guests were treated to late night snacks of truffle cheese toasties and donned personalised graffiti caps and tees on the dance floor for hip hop karaoke into the early hours.
The celebrations continued a few days later at the stunning private Wormsley Estate in Buckinghamshire which boasts one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the world. A keen county player in his younger days, a T20 game pitching his oldest friends against a semi-professional team including three ex England players was the perfect surprise to round off a fun packed birthday week.
"Thank you so much! The venue, room design and entertainment perfectly executed my vision and the birthday boy was blown away!”
